Fifty Shades of Grey Causes Sex Toy Injuries to Surge
Sex toy injuries can happen to anyone, especially with a little extra inspiration. The Washington Post reports that sex toy injuries surges after ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ was published – are you surprised? The numbers of people visiting emergency rooms with sex toy-related injuries hasn’t just surged, it’s doubled since Fifty Shades of Grey was published in 2007! Of course we all wanna know how these injuries are happening… all we know is that 83% of these injuries require “foreign body removals”.

So who’s doing the damage? Middle aged white men make up for 58% of these injuries, with the median age being 44. The majority of these injuries aren’t severe, and thankfully there have never been any deaths reported from sex toy injuries.
We can’t prove this is all related to Fifty Shades of Grey – there could be an uprising of swinger parties, or even better – older people are discovering camming :P But sex toy sales have also increased within the same time frame, which supports the fact that something has definitely changed. Like all things that we do to our bodies – safety first!
